WILD 5 – ORIBI GORGE |
Oribi Gorge boasts with the world’s highest abseil alongside a waterfall as well as a monumental gorge swing. This is a real extreme adventure hot spot. Wild Swing, Wild Abseil (110 metres), Wild Slide, Wild Water Rafting (rapids grades 2-4 depending on river conditions), Hiking and Biking trails and Horse Riding.
The Wild Swing, rated as the highest gorge swing in the world, will have you plummeting 33-storeys into Oribi Gorge. The Wild Gorge Swing is an awesome experience that leaves you breathless, but exhilarated. Take the plunge extreme sport junkies!
The Wild Abseil is definitely not for the fainthearted. This is the world’s highest commercial abseil. The first 45 meters is a traditional abseil with feet against the cliff. The remaining 65 meters is free abseiling, allowing you to take in the beauty of the gorge from a different angle.
Non-swingers and jumpers can enjoy magnificent views and vistas of this fabulous forested park and photograph their loved ones and friends jumping off a cliff.
The Wild Slide is definitely the wildest foofy slide. If you are not brave enough for the Wild Swing, you can slide for 120 meters along a steel cable 160 meters above the ground for a fabulous view of the gorge and the waterfall.
Also, take in the beauty of the landscape from various view sites including Baboons Castle, Pulpit Leaning Tower, Heads and Overhanging Rock. The magnificent 24 kilometre long Oribi Gorge had been carved out of sandstone over the millennia by the Umzimkulwana River.
Afterwards, visit neighbouring Lake Eland Game Reserve. Bushveld, Grasslands, Wetlands and Coastal Forest are the four distinct ecosystems of Lake Eland Game Reserve. Stroll across the massive 80-meter long suspension bridge for a breathtaking view of the Oribi Gorge.
